When you live outside of a city, you are bound to see a lot more wildlife around your home. This can be quite fascinating, and if you have children, they are surely thrilled about this as well. However, wildlife can also do quite a bit of harm to your home, and in some cases, they can even pose a threat to the welfare of your family.
So, what should you do to keep wildlife at bay? Your first step involves understanding why wildlife is coming into your world. Usually, they are looking for one of three things – food, water or shelter. If your home offers easy access to one or more of those items, it will be attractive to wildlife.
Some obvious sources of food are your garbage, recycling, a garden or even a grill that isn’t cleaned well. Most wildlife have an excellent sense of smell and can pick up on food items even miles away.
When it comes to shelter, this will differ greatly depending on the size of the wildlife in question, as well as, their needs. However, any dark, undisturbed corner of your home could easily become the home of an uninvited guest.
