Everything must go somewhere. While you might feel that when you send things down your drain, this is the last you need to worry about them, this is not always the case. All the plumbing fixtures in your home are connected somewhere. In your sewer system there is a gas called sewer gas that will be displaced when water rushes down the pipe. Usually this gas will go out your vent pipe, but if this is blocked for some reason, it will instead take the easiest secondary exit. In many cases, this will prove to be your toilet. This is why you might see your toilet bubble when you take a shower, and find that your water everywhere drains slower. Sewer gas can be harmful to humans, so it is in your best interest to take care of the problem as soon as possible.
Find out where your vent pipe is located and look for a blockage. It could be a birds nest or a rodent nest inside the pipe that needs to be removed.
