Winter is coming once again, and with it, snow. As little as you might want to think about that, it does call for some advance preparation on your part.
If you live in an area where there is a lot of snowfall, your house might be equipped with snow guards. These are not usually installed unless they were added by the homeowner, but they prove invaluable when it comes to preventing injury from falling snow and ice. With a snow guard installed, you are protected from large sheets of ice and snow sliding off of your roof. Snow guards will break down the sheets into smaller pieces, posing less risk of injury.
Snow guards should be installed at the lowest portion of your roof, or else they don’t function properly, and if you have an extended roof, you shouldn’t install any snow guards on that section, since it doesn’t have enough support for the added weight from accumulated snow and ice.
