The benefits and drawbacks of an apartment or condo

We deal most often with houses, people buying a new home in a neighborhood with similar houses all on separate lots.  Maybe your case is different though.  Have you found a home that’s an apartment? Or maybe a condo?  Or another situation where a living space will be in a shared residential building?  Maybe you have fallen in love with the location, and you are already planning how you will arrange your furniture and what color scheme you will be choosing.  While all of this is very exciting, have you considered the condition of the actual building or home is located in?  Another factor to consider is who lived in it after.  We can perform inspections on an apartment, condo or any other shared residential building that will be affecting the space you will be living in.

Some of the defects we will look for are the condition of the hot water heater, the HVAC system, and the condition of the roof.  While the property owners are perhaps promising complete liability, a potential problem still could mean unexpected delays or inconvenience and isn’t that one of advantages to living in a home such as that, to avoid the extra annoyance and cost that comes with owning a home?
