Both wood flooring and carpet flooring have been in use for centuries, whether it be in settlers homes back in the frontier days, or in the medieval castles of old with red and gold carpets lay spread abroad. But what flooring is good for your home? Here are a few pros and cons of each to help you decide.

First, we'll talk a little bit about wood flooring. Still in use in millions of homes today, wood flooring has that classic appeal to it and can be stained, finished, refinished, whatever you like to make it look the way you want it to for your home. It is extremely durable and can last for years upon years upon years. However, it is capable of being scratched pretty easily depending on the wood type you buy and install. During the winter time, if the house isn't as properly heated as it could be, the wood can feel iceĀ cold under your feet, even with wool socks. But when properly heated, the floors are amazing to walk around on in your home.

Now to the carpet. Carpet has thousands upon thousands of designs ranging in price so, in the aesthetic appeal sense, you have many choices to complement the rest of your house. In the winter time, it can be cold to the touch, however, just like wood flooring, if properly heated, the carpet beneath you can feel amazing! However, on the bad side, carpet is infamous for holding water underneath it. So if your house has problems with water leakage, give it enough time, and the dreaded mold will eventually begin to grow.

Making sure that you know exactly what is best for your home AND for you, will contribute to your happy life at home. Remember these things, because they will eventually help you in the long run.
