Carpenter ants are one of the most dangerous insects. Not really. At least to us, they aren’t, but when it comes to our homes, they can be quite deadly. Because these particular types of ants will literally eat your house. If you do have a carpenter ant problem, how are you going to take care of them? Here are a couple of things to remember when taking out these bothersome bugs.

Well, one of the things you can do is start off by looking for their nest or colony. Carpenter ants eat through untreated and weathered wood. Finding frass, or in other words, a pile of wood shavings from where the insects tunnel from, your chances of finding the nest have greatly increased. Once you’ve found the colony, you can use a specific kind of pesticide powder that will kill on contact.

The next thing you should do is make absolutely sure that you cleaned the powdered area spotless. Vacuuming up the surrounding area will ensure that you completed the cleanup process. If the pesticide, however, does not work, the next best thing is to lay bait for the ants. By laying bait, the worker ants will grab the bait, bring it back to the colony, and within a matter of days the colony will be poisoned.

With these tips at your disposal, you’ll be able to keep the carpenter ants down to a minimum and keep your home and family safe.
